Altinnova is supporting the development of active mobility in various local authorities within the Bordeaux conurbation through the roll-out of several ALTAO® Cover secure bike lockers.
Designed to meet the needs of residential cycle parking, these cycle lockers provide residents with a secure parking solution close to their homes.
Installed as early as 2021 in several municipalities within Bordeaux Métropole, these facilities have recently been the subject of a revitalisation project aimed at giving them a new visual identity. To this end, several Véloboxes have been customised by three local artists with diverse graphic styles, transforming these bike lockers into genuine works of urban art.
ALTAO® Cover bike lockers for residential parking
Designed and manufactured by Altinnova, ALTAO® Cover bike boxes are secure shelters designed to meet the growing demand for residential bike parking in town centres and densely populated urban areas. These bike lockers offer cyclists a practical solution for parking their bikes close to home when private storage space is limited or non-existent.
Thanks to their robust and secure design,ALTAO® Cover enclosed and secure bike lockers effectively protect bikes against theft, vandalism and bad weather. Available in 5- or 6-space versions, these bike lockers fit perfectly into the space occupied by a car parking bay, thereby providing several secure bike parking spaces. Their compact design makes them easy to integrate into urban environments whilst providing residential cycle parking facilities that are closely tailored to residents’ needs.

ALTAO® Cover bike boxes transformed into works of urban art
As part of this project led by Bordeaux Métropole, several ALTAO® Cover bike boxes were entrusted to three artists specialising in street art : Picor, A-MO and Selor. The aim was to transform these residential bike parking facilities into features that enhance the public space.
Installed in several towns across the metropolitan area, notably in Bordeaux, Bègles and Lormont, their designs give these secure bike storage facilities a strong visual identity. Inspired by nature and the local environment, the artworks adorn the Véloboxes with colours and patterns that blend harmoniously into their urban surroundings. Each artist has been able to express their own graphic style : from the botanical designs conceived by Picor to the poetic representations by A-MO, and the unique creations by Selor.
This initiative perfectly illustrates how ALTAO® Cover bike lockers go beyond their primary function. Designed to secure everyday bikes, these bike lockers also serve as a platform for artistic expression thanks to their customisable surfaces.
