In Villejuif (Val-de-Marne), Valdevy, a public inter-municipal housing organisation managing nearly 17,700 homes across six municipalities in the Grand-Orly Seine Bièvre area, has chosen to fit its housing estates with 10 Abris Cigogne® units.
Each shelter provides 20 bicycle parking spaces fitted with Optima V10 double-deck racks, including one P-type e-bike rack incorporating a charging unit with two charging points. This facility provides a total of 200 cycle spaces and 20 e-bike charging points, designed to meet the growing demand for active transport and to make it easier for residents to park their bikes.
Secure cycle shelters to optimise residential parking
With 10 shelters installed, each with a capacity of 20 spaces, this project provides a total of 200 cycle parking spaces spread across the various residential blocks. This capacity meets residents’ growing needs whilst making the best use of the available space.
Thanks to their modular design, Abri Cigogne® can be adapted to the specific conditions of each site and can be scaled to meet future needs. They are easy to transport and install, making them simple to deploy, whilst the wide range of customisation options ensures they blend seamlessly into their surroundings.
In this project, the shelters are characterised by a bespoke cut-out in the perforated sheet metal, which reinforces the visual identity of the Valdevy residences whilst lending the whole project a polished finish.
Fitted with Optima V10 double-deck cycle racks, they maximise parking capacity whilst ensuring convenient access for users.
Built-in charging points for electric bikes
To support the growth of electric bicycles (e-bikes), each shelter is fitted with a charging unit comprising two charging points, making a total of 20 charging points across all the facilities.
Residents can therefore park their bikes and recharge their batteries in the same place, in a secure area. This solution makes it easier to use e-bikes on a daily basis and meets the new needs arising from changing mobility patterns.
A solution tailored to multi-occupancy accommodation
The demand for secure cycle parking is growing rapidly in blocks of flats. For social housing providers such as Valdevy, providing dedicated cycle parking spaces helps to improve residents’ quality of life, enhance communal areas and support changing travel habits.
